Reviewers should examine manuscripts critically based on the work's scientific value, strong evidence for the conclusions reached, novelty, and significance to the field. The review process relies heavily on reviewer selection, and we base our decisions on a variety of variables, including competence, reputation, specific suggestions, and previous experience with the reviewer. We don't hire reviewers who are consistently late, unprofessional, or overly severe or lenient.
