It is important to use the phrases sex and gender accurately. The authors should specify in the text that informed consent was acquired for the human subject trials. Human subjects' private rights must always be respected.
The ARRIVE criteria should be followed in all animal research. Animal research should be carried out in accordance with the UK Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act, 1986 and accompanying guidelines,EU Directive 2010/63/EU, or the National Research Council's Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, according to the authors. The authors should state in the manuscript that such standards were followed.
